Artist’s Statement
Fierce divinity in creativity.
Tranquil peace in symmetry.
Stories told with shapes and color,
Emotions evoked with wonder.
Experience them and change your mood.
Exciting, uplifting, calming, or cool.
Different palettes, kindred designs,
Discovering patterns through all time.
What emerges, what recedes.
Structured, playful, sure to please.
I’m inspired by the divinity of the natural world, sacred geometry, Ukrainian pysanky, Byzantine churches, stained glass windows, mandalas, old school drafting compasses, and kaleidoscopes.
My paintings are active meditations, both during the creative process and as the lines guide your eyes around the finished design. In that meditation we are connected. You are connected. Every time you look at them they tell you something different. There is movement in the stillness, and the longer you stare at them, the deeper you go into yourself. Slowly calling you towards growth. Are you listening to what that inner voice is telling you?
I picked up a paint brush after a very long hiatus as a form of stress relief. Somewhere, during my time away, I lost my fear of the blank canvas. I started to trust myself and my instincts. I decided to play and do what I do best; be myself. I hope my work inspires you to do the same.
